I found a poorley stored probably pollypro kayak. Nice boat but has bulge about 6" across and 3" deep in bottom of hull like it sat on something for a while. Worth picking up just for all the nice parts but would rather keep and use then part out. Thought about hot water or heat gun but have never done before. If I do regain the original shape will it have memory or just happen again.

  1. Try and find someone who has made such a repair. Rental shops may be able to help you. I would fabricate a form to duplicate the original hull shape. Fasten in to the kayak (duct tape), Apply heat very carefully to the interior side of the bulge. Use a tool to push the softened plastic into the form. If the plastic collapses or thins, you can reinforce the spot with an interior fiber glass and resin patch.

  2. WHEN I BOUGHT MY KAYAK, I HAD THE SAME THING.  JUST PUT IT OUT ON THE GRASS IN THE SUN FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS AND THEN STICK YOUR HAND IN THE KAYAK AND PUSH OUT THE CREASE.  IT WORKS FOR ME (POLY KAYAK) AND THEN JUST HANG IN ON ITS SIDE IN THE GARAGE OR OUT OF THE ELEMENTS.

    HAPPY KAYAKING!
