What's the best way to secure an enclosed subwoofer box in the trunk of an SUV?

I want to get a subwoofer with enclosed box for my explorer, but I am unsure how to secure it. I do NOT want to drill any holes. What are the best ideas and has anyone had a personal technique they find works best? Thanks!

  1. For me, velcro tends to do the trick though you must use a generous amount of it. However, I have a shallow p3 12" rockford sub in a rockford box. Its pretty lightweight, so the velcro can handle it easily. If you have a really heavy box, velcro won't work very well. You can use bungie cords to secure it in place. The best is to secure the box to the vehicle.

  2. Gee... that's a pretty dumb response!! Subwoofers, when set up correctly can provide a very rich sound to your music. Depending on wht type of music you listen to, heavy bass may be exactly what you are looking for.

Anyway, Drilling and bolting to the frame of the vehicle is by far the only way to secure the system, besides and alarm. This will not however stop them from unscrewing the speakers from the box. In an SUV it can be very hard but if you must, use one way screws (i.e. ones that will never unscrew!!) to hold the speakers in and bolt the amp to the floor, under the seat. The box should be bolted to the floor as well!!

    Hope this helps!!
