What's the best way to send 10 gig of stuff to someone over the internet for free?

Hopefully you can break it up into a couple of sections but post it to a website that has that capability, or sign up to a website like Yahoo  and upload it there and then give them the link to it.

Set up a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server on your PC, and an FTP client on the destination PC.  Filezilla is an excellent solution for this:

If the owner of the destination PC doesn't want to install the application on their PC, a portable Filezilla client application is available.  It will run directly from a USB flash drive without installing anything on the PC.  It's available here:

It depends, if you are sending many small files (like a photo album), you should use regular E-mail and send them in batches. But when you are sending something large (like a long movie),you should consider decompressing or using a paid service. I never actually did this before, but you can copy the files onto multiple DVDs and send via snail mail! Hope it helps!
