Question:

What's the best way to send 10 gig of stuff to someone over the internet for free?

Preferably without having to break it into chunks.

  1. Hopefully you can break it up into a couple of sections but post it to a website that has that capability, or sign up to a website like Yahoo  and upload it there and then give them the link to it.

  2. Set up a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server on your PC, and an FTP client on the destination PC.  Filezilla is an excellent solution for this:

    If the owner of the destination PC doesn't want to install the application on their PC, a portable Filezilla client application is available.  It will run directly from a USB flash drive without installing anything on the PC.  It's available here:

  3. It depends, if you are sending many small files (like a photo album), you should use regular E-mail and send them in batches. But when you are sending something large (like a long movie),you should consider decompressing or using a paid service. I never actually did this before, but you can copy the files onto multiple DVDs and send via snail mail! Hope it helps!
