What's the best way to set an old journal on fire?

Hey girl, just douse it in some lighter fluid, throw it in an empty metal garbage can! Throw in a match and voila`!  A burnt roasted journal or diary!

Put wadded up newspaper and small sticks underneath it.  Thick books will not burn all the way through without some help.
