  1. If you are just leaving them until the next day/week you go skiing they should be fine.  If however you are leaving them for a period of time, I suggest you go and buy a couple of ski straps and two heavy duty rubber bands.

Make sure to dry your skis off before storing them.  This will help prevent rust from oxidizing on the edges.  Use the rubber bands (the ones which hold broccoli together work great) to tie back your ski brakes.  Then put one strap at the tips and one at the tails.  These will hold your skis together and not let the bases compress against each other.  You will be able to see the natural camber of the skis, leaving a gap.

Also if it's going to be a while before you ski again, get your skis hot waxed but have the shop leave the wax on.  This will help your ski bases from drying out and the wax on the edges will help prevent some rusting.

It is also a good idea if you are done for the season to take a s***w driver and release the tension on your binding's springs by lowering them to the lowest setting.  You will have to get them readjusted at the start of next season, but it is a good an safe practice to get your skis tested every year anyway.
