  1. In the US, you must graduate from an accredited program and pass a licensure exam.  US PT education programs now all result in either a master's or doctorate level.  

    Most programs are competitive entrance, meaning you go to school as an undergraduate taking classes that meet the requirements for the program to which you hope to apply.  Then, sometime your junior or senior year in college, you apply for admission to the graduate level program.  Just because you meet the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission...therefore, many "qualified" applicants are turned away.  

    There are some variations to this between schools, such as some require you to take the GRE, you will need to complete some hours observing in a clinic, etc.

    Most master's degree programs are 6 years in length and the doctorate is 7 years.  

    My best suggestion is to go to the APTA website at: http://www.apta.org and go to the section on education programs.  There, you can get a list of schools, as well as a further description of the life of a PT student.
