  1. They are easy to catch and mother bear will find you easy to catch. By your questions regarding bears it’s very clear you know VERY little about bears. You are therefore about to be horribly mauled or killed. You want to look like this?

That could be you! IF you live through it.

Trapping bear cubs is illegal, dangerous and not on the bright things to do list.

People can only trap bears with the proper licenses and permits.

Explaining to you how to trap one would only help you in getting killed or severally mauled or some real long jail time. I don’t think you would like any of those things, jail is bad, and being chewed up by momma bear is bad.

  2. Jump on the momma bear first if you can make it through her the cub should be no problem.

  3. 1) Rub 6 cups of honey thoroughly onto your skin and clothing to disguise your scent.  2) Approach a large bear with cubs. 3) Position yourself between the mother an her cubs.  4)  Make a  threatening gestures and loud noises to disorient the bears. 5)  Quickly grab the cubs and run directly toward the mother to scare her away.  6)  If she doesn't run away, try to place one of your arms into the mother bear's mouth -- this will trigger a flight instinct and she will run away leaving you unharmed.  Do not waste time with black bears, focus on grizzly or polar bears only.  I'm sure doing this will get you an A+.  Good luck!  But seriously...you MUST NOT even THINK of trying to capture a bear cub.  It's dangerous, illegal, and, frankly, quite stupid.

  4. Another term for that is poaching.

  5. BS.  No teacher would have you do something illegal.

  6. I wont try unless you want to spend time doing homework from

a hospital bed, Mama bears are very protective of their babies

they will fight you and rip you to shreds

and I think it would illegal as well

beside I dont think the school would allow you even bring a baby bear

onto the campus in the first place

  7. Your in hunting, not stupid questions needing an answer.   But since you asked you should keep the sow (female angry bear) busy by feeding her friends you don't like and just scooping up her young like a teddybear.  After all they are strong enough already to eat you and survive a long winter nap.  Good luck, if the phone don't ring I'll know it's you.

  8. walk in woods until you see sign of Bear the ones with big balls leave them alone or they'll eat yours. when you spot a bear population normally by air or if your lucky enough with a cub normally around a water source with fish. land pack in plan on spending about 3-6 days in the forest.Don't for get the all terrain vehicles notice the S that means more than 2 includes people to back you up.Have to maintain and follow to verify the den,Where she keeps the cub safe. we are talking about a small cub not one that is 2 yrs old and big enough to kill you.The trap must be of the same size as a large dog kennel like a rot also have to have a way of transporting it. Remember the kennel can be disassembled for storage until needed. You will have to run off the mother and keep her at bay.exploding shot gun rounds work well. The cub if in the open will go up a tree and with your luck a 40 footer need to get it down. Now to make all this easy-er you could invest in some tranquilizer's enough to put momma down too.Of course don't for get the permit from the wild life management and the state department.other wise you are going to jail for a minimum of 6 years.

  9. You know that's illegal, right?

Reason #1: Black bears are a protected species.

#2: What are you going to do with it when you catch it? Kill it or keep it as a pet?? (Both are illegal)

#3: What do you think the mother bear is going to think about you catching her babies??

  10. I have always postulated that all squirrels do not live in the forest and I now have living (?) proof.  Just cover yourself with honey and lay down in a forest clearing; the cute little baby bear will come to you and while it is l*****g the honey you can grab it.  No problemo at all.

  11. catching a cub is worth jail time. or a big fine. or both.

i dont think any real school wants you to get mauled by mama bear when she see's you with her young.

  12. No you don't!

It is an easy matter to trap a cub, but Mama bear is always within earshot and if she hears any call of distress from her cub, she will attack and destroy anything that moves within her eyesight until the cub is safe and with her again.

  13. Ignoring the fact that trapping a bear without proper licensing and permits is illegal as they are either protected or considered a game species....

The problem with trapping is that it is a non-selective method of capturing an animal.  By this time of year, bear cubs sizable creatures of great strengthh.  If you were to try and trap one right now, you would either need to use a trap to restrain the bear by the leg or build a live trap big enough and strong enough to accommodate a bear cub (like maybe out of a piece of steel culvert).  The problem with either trap is that you are just as likely to capture the mother as the cub.  Personally, the last thing I'd want to do is try and release a mother bear who is frightened and angry, and who worried about her cubs that are probably hanging right outside the trap.  Sounds like a recipe for disaster if you ask me.

If you wanted to trap a cub, I'd say your best bet would be to try in spring when they first emerge from winter dens.  You could conceivably build a trap that could fit a small cub, but the larger mother couldn't get into.  The problem you will run into here is that small spring cubs are just starting the weaning process and may not be attracted to bait as it still relies mainly on its mother's milk for nutrition.  You could try and fashion a trap out of a metal 55 gallon drum.  I would probably try to fashion some metal bars at the open end and "lift" them up and secure them with a pin.  The pin would be wired to a foot pedal that would pull the pin out when the animal steps on it to eat the bait.  Besides the likelyhood you won't get a bear cub with bait, if you did you are going to have an angry mother hanging around.  Another thing to consider is what do you do if you get something else instead of a bear (wolverine, bobcat, etc...)

If you are serious about this, I would call your state's department of natural resources for information.  They have experience in these matters.  If you are doing a research paper, they would probably be happy to provide you information on how animal relocation works.  You might even be able to go on a ride along or at least have someone show you the equipment used so you can take some photos for the paper.  Besides that, if you are going to try and trap a bear, you probably want to check the legality of this whole thing.

Writing about methods of trapping a bear is one thing.  Personally, I think actually trying to trap a bear cub as a project doesn't seem too bright to me.  You're liable to get yourself hurt or worse yet, injure an animal for no good reason.

Good Luck to you on this one.  I'd advise you to think again before trying to trap a bear unless you plan on killing it.

  14. omg, this is the funniest question and answer i've seen yet..... thank you for the laugh people........... by the way black bears are not a protected species they are hunted for sport
