What's the big deal about "The Secret"?

Now I know the ladies know a lot about it. My mom saw the movie & she kept on bragging, saying "It changed my life, you should see it, blah, blah, blah." She says it'll REALLY help me out because I tend to stress out a lot. I have NO IDEA what the movie's about & I'm thinking of watching it. Would it help me?

  1. It's just another in a continual series of films and books about how to "manifest your desires".  It may seem inspirational to some.  Obviously this one was one of the most popular of the genre, but it too will be set aside, then more will take its place.

The problem I have with it is this:

"Things" ultimately don't make anyone happy, and also we don't even really know what we want.

Your mom might want a diamond necklace because she thinks she'll be happier with it, but she won't.  Happiness comes from inside.

But, fine, if she wants to try to manifest one, then go ahead.  Just don't go hurting people along the way.

There's absolutely nothing new being said in The Secret.  It's all been said before and will be said again.

I watched the movie and did feel a bit of inspiration (if you can call it that), but also knew that the people speaking are slightly deluded (not that other people aren't as well).

If you don't want to stress out so much, then there are better ways.  This movie could actually cause stress.

All being said, watch the movie.  It's online for free.  See for yourself.

  2. No one knows that but you. Watch it and find out for yourself.

I watched it and turned it off after peer pressure to watch it as long as the 5 minutes that I did. it waisted my time.
