  1. the a380 ( aka airbus 380) now operated by Singapore airlines

but has a order by Lufthansa airlines

airliner.net has photos of exterior and interior

  2. Not sure if Lisa the flight attendant above has her technical facts right, but if she does, she should ask the captain to lighten up on the fuel and get a few thousand more mini bottles on the thing.

  3. I believe it's the new Airbus A380.  In the article below it states the A380 would enter service in 2006, but the first test flight actually took place from Frankfurt, Germany to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, NY on March 19, 2007 and carried 519 passengers.

Here is a slideshow with 27 photos.  Not sure if there is a way to download them.  If not, just search A380 Airbus photos, there are tons of them.  http://www.scribd.com/doc/56918/Airbus-A...

I guess Jeff (below) is correct.  The Russian Antonov An-225, a six-engine jet produced in 1988 to carry the Russian space shuttle, is bigger than the A380, with a span of 290 feet and a takeoff weight of 1.32 million pounds.

The A380 has a length of 239 feet, a tail as high as an eight-story building, and a 262-foot wingspan. It can carry 853 passengers on two levels, if you cram them all into economy seats. It has 17 restrooms, is heavier than 16 semi trucks (1.23 million pounds fully loaded), and can accommodate 81,893 gallons of fuel and 6,492 mini-bottles—or thereabouts.

I obviously have too much time on my hands today, lol.

  4. A380!

  5. The biggest airplane in the world is the Russian Antonov An-225.  There is only one flying and you can see it at the links below.  It is huge!

Added: There is a second one that was started but never completed after the "fall" of the Soviet Union. It is just sitting in the production facility just like it was when the workers walked off the job.  The first one was used for passengers once or twice, but was way to expensive to operate. It now carries oversize cargo, like rocket boosters and launch vehicles for the Russian space program.

  6. The Antonov AN-225 is the largest airplane in the Russian inventory as well as the world.

It is larger than the American C-5 Galaxy and larger than anything Airbus has in their inventory.

The AN-225 can be configured for both cargo as well as for passengers but is used primarily for cargo.

  7. The AN225 is a commercial airplane- it is a freighter and the largest airplane (civil or military).  A380 is obviously the largest passenger airplane.

  8. an 225

  9. Isn't it the Airbus A380? Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus_A380

  10. Airbus

    A380

    AN225 isn't a commercial airliner!
