Regarding trades and/or free agency...what boneheaded moves has your team made? Ones you were bitter about?

For example, if you are a flyers fan are you bitter at the trade that brought lindros, when you gave up Forsberg and a number of players for him?

My team, the Caps, I think their most boneheaded move, in my memory, is the Jagr deal. They overpaid him, he didn't fit well with the team, and he didn't play with any passion.

Of course, because of the deal, we had a firesale, started rebuilding, and got a loser named Ovechkin. :)

  1. As a devils fan we made a hand full of mistakes around this team every year by losing players to free agency. Gomez, Rafalski, Neidermeyer, Arnott, etc,etc..

But this year after getting Rolston and Holik back we made up a little. Now we just need to work on that blue line. Jonny Oduya will be a big name D-man in the NHL soon!!!

  2. im still bitter about the way we treated CUJO here in the motor city. we really tore that dude down and put a stain on his career. I wish we still had him

  3. Also as a DC fan, I agree with the Jagr thing. Recently, though, the Huet thing is beyond me. I know they were making a push to the playoffs, so that is why they signed him, but why they could not come to a deal with him to keep him makes no sense. Don't get me wrong, picking up Theodore as a nice move but, the fact they did (at least in my book) the legendary Olaf Kolzig the way they did. (it was absolute ROTTEN the way they handled that. I will forever be bitter about it.) kind of overshadows that.

  4. trying to hit a soccer ball, missed, and landed in the splits!!LOL!!

  5. Trading Luongo, Lukas Krajic, and a pick FOR WHAT!! BERTUZZI, ALLEN, AULD WTF!?!?!

  6. Taking Gordie Howe for granted.

  7. I agree with Leafsfan ..(Leafs fan here too).

The list of Toronto mistakes is soo long cause it has been a yearly issue for the last 30 years. .They had a beautiful chance to go young and rebuild about 15 years ago (when they traded Gilmour to NJ for SUllivan, SMith and Mccauley) but of course Quinn made a bunch of dumb trades to get old.

    Today..

    1. They can draft (unless they get lucky)

    2. Cannot develop , would say they regress players.

    3. Constantly overpay..Hagman???? Who is Finger???

    4. They buy out Tucker and pay these guys the same amount?

    5. Counldnt convince Sunding to waive his no trade

Sorry Cliff..Your looking worse than JFJ...What happened to the "we are going young and rebuilding?"

  8. Trading Leclair, Desjardins and Dionne to the Flyers for Mark Recchi.

    Brutal

  9. Letting Brian Rolston Go!  ='(

  10. as a young leafs fan it pains me to say i can't remember the last time they made a good decision.

lets see whats happened in recent years:

    -rask for raycroft

-ntc for tucker, mccabe, kubina(starting to like him tho)

    -jason blake

    -finger&hagman

  11. Perhaos you'd like to read my novel- Buffalo Fans and The Decisions That s***w Us.

    Its really long.

  12. Well...signing Hagman and Finger for money that makes zero sense for starters...honestly, $12 million for Niklas Hagman?  That would be yesterday.  Last year we overpaid for Jason Blake...then overpaid for the Human Pylon (McCabe).  We don't develop young talent, and at the risk of going Don Cherry...we don't draft Canadian players to the extent that we should.

Beyond that...frankly I could list the boneheaded moves that the Leafs have made but it would fill a book.

  13. The Red Wings' single worst mistake in the last 20 years was getting rid of Chris Osgood in 2001.

  14. tie between SCOTT GOMEZ and BRIAN RAFALSKI

I'll give the edge to Brian Rafalski because he wasnt a complete tool that sold out.....

  15. I don't think they've made it yet, but there is a possibility.

The biggest mistake the Lightning could make is moving Boyle.  We need to add 1 more proven Defensive player and shipping one out would be pointless...if you start at level B and want to reach level A, why ship someone out that will make you level C and then bring someone in to make you level B again?  Follow me? I know that was confusing.

  16. I think letting Gomez go and Rafalski and Niedemeyer. Letting them go was a bad idea. Rafalski was a solid D and Gomez (who i hate now) was a good player. But this free agency the worst that has happen is Devils let Brylin go. Not too bad but wish they resigned him. Atleast we go Rolston, Holik and resigned some people.

  17. im still mad that the lightning traded Modin for Denis. Modin turns into a steal for the habs while Denis was a bust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
