My friend and I want to visit Niagara Falls. She's a temporary resident here in the US. She has a passport to show. I'm a US Citizen. I know they are strict about crossing borders. What do we need to show so we can cross the borders and see a better view of the Falls?

  1. As of right now it is a drivers lic. and stamped birth certificate, I live on the Border in NY and cross all the time.

  2. You'll get into Canada without a problem, getting back into the USA will be the concern.  A US citizen with a passport will be okay.  A US citizen may also use their birth certificate with a photo bearing government issued ID.  A non US citizen with a passport will need to show a Visa or green card if they are not from Canada.

  3. As an American only your Drivers Licence. The friend has to show the passport.

  4. until mid-2009 when crossing by land all you need is a drivers license (or other government issued photo i.d.) and a birth certificate to show you are american.
