Question:

What's the cause of this hip / leg pain?

A little over a year ago, I did something that hurt my hip / upper thigh joint. At first it was tender to stretch, but it's gotten worse and worse.

The pain is about as low as the base of my tailbone, only off to the right side -- beneath the buttock as opposed to the lower back. It 'feels' like the joint where my femur joins my hips.

It's worst when I wake up, or when I've been sitting in my office chair, or driving. It usually is just a dull ache, but becomes really painful if I try to stretch (touch my toes) and especially if I try to lift my left while I'm sitting.

I saw chiropractor a few times and he thought it was my sacroiliac, but the little elastic belt and adjustments he prescribed haven't done anything to help. I spoke with my dad and he calls the chiropractor a 'witch doctor' so I guess that option is out.

Has anyone had a similar condition? Was it your sacroiliac? How did you get it corrected?

  1. An Orthopedist should look at you take some X-Rays in order to see just what is going on with your bones, and what should be done about it. The possibilities are many, and your age and medical history will help make a good diagnosis. Take some Tylenol for  pain as needed, and see the Doctor

  2. Have had same problem for 2 years after injury, mri scan showed slipped disc, but the symptoms are more SI joint injury, had an injection under x ray today into my back with pain reliever and steroids, so far my back is not aching (not worn off yet), but the si joint is still the same, everytime i try to get up from sitting or out of car, only way is to go to an ortho surgeon to rule out the problem, this diagnosting injection will rule 1 or the other out...well worth having MRI ....good luck (tried chiropractor and physio also hydro, nothing worked so far)

  3. sacriotic nerve. i'm probably spelling it wrong. but it's a nerve that's so tender and takes a while to heal. you need to massage it out.

Go see your PCP and they'll be able to tell what it is. Could also be a dislocated disc nerve thing, again, my health info isn't well but i've heard a lot of people having these symptoms and they've have surgery to help correct the disc and nerves.
