What's the cheapest way to call the Dominican Republic from the U.S.? I'm using Skype, but it's kind of pricey--almost 20 cents/ min to call a cell phone there.

  1. any phone card that specifically allows D.R. that you can get at a store....like a carribean or latino store......should be cheaper.

the one i use cost 5 dollars for 1 hour....but i call el salvador.  there should be one for D.R. too.

  2. When I called DR from USA (when I used to live in USA). I used Nobel Calling Cards. You can get them on line and they are easy to use. I found the 1 second card to be the most economical one for me. It costs a little more than the 2 minute one but if you count the savings by being charged for exactly the minutes you use instead of them rounding up it seemed to be the best (I tried them all and added up my minutes and this one saved me the most).

  3. well, i would ude the santo domingo invita, boss or luminosa. they give good minutes to cell phones and regular phones. that's wat i ude. And with wat u r using, ur probably better off caliin from ur cell phone without a card. Hope I helped!

  4. buy a phone card they vary in prices ( 2, 5, 10) dollars. one that I find that is good is Santo Domingo Invita its really good.

  5. I have a fiance in Bahoruco {in the Barahona Province} and I call him on his cell phone using phone cards.  I live off of 2 different cards : Langosta & Play Ball.  I use each for different reasons.  I used to get 1 hour using Play Ball, but they started to lower the amount of minutes one could talk with it.  Now they're down to 40 minutes, but I still use them when I want to save minutes for another day.  With Langosta, I get a whole hour calling his cell phone.  The bad thing about it is that if I tried to save the minutes, they slowly get eaten up, like other cards.  For ME, these are the best cards to use to call a cell phone out in DR.  At least until they start to raise their rates!

  6. get the phone card Caribbean Max, it is amazing, i have been looking for a good phone card for so long, and this one is top notch, and gives you VALUE for you money, check it out...its specifically for there!

  7. Go to a Latino store and ask, they will gladly help (sell) you.

Happy to help you and welcome to Santiago!
