We [my mom, my 13 year old brother, and I] are planning to make a two day round trip to Montreal from Toronto in the upcoming month. I want to take a scenic route (if any), so either by a bus or a train.

What's the cheapest way to travel (actual fare/cost)? Thanks.

  1. Take Via Rail.  Not sure what the cost is.  For portions of the ride you will be able to see Lake Ontario.

For driving, the most direct route is taking the 401.

  2. hopping trains = free.

    but i wouldnt recommend it

  3. Buses are cheapest.. and usually from the main bus depot.. the greyhound buses run every hour on the hour and the prices are reasonable..x*x you can buy your ticket right there the day you go.. and you can buy return on the day you return then you can decide to come back later.. you can then take any bus...x*x

  4. I would recommend for the cheapest way is greyhound, it would cost $356.00 round trip, and would take 6 hours. Less scenic, but less expensive too.

  5. If you go to the links below, you can enter the dates for your travel and check the fares and schedules.

  6. I agree - your best bet would be to travel by bus (Greyhound).

Don't get me wrong - traveling by train sounds cool too.

And you'll have more room on board to walk around.

    Not sure about costs though.

In any event, have an awesome trip with your family!
