  1. Chemical symbol for iron (the dominant part of stainless steel) is Fe, atomic number is 26, melting point is 1528 C, density 7.9.

Chemical symbol for chromium is Cr, atomic number 24, melting point 1890 C, density 7.2.

Chemical symbol for nickel is Ni, atomic number 28, melting point 1453 C, density 8.

  2. Stainless doesn't really have a chemical symbol.  It's not a molecule it's a family of alloys.  Stainless is mostly iron, with some carbon, nickel, and chromium.  You might refer to it as Fe_x Cr_y Ni_z (where _x means subscript x) to indicate an unknown mixture of those elements.  If you google for composition of stainless, you can find fractions to fill in; for example Fe_.76 Cr_.18 Ni_.08.  You'll also see this referred to as 18/8 stainless.  Most people refer to a particular stainless by its manufacturer's name, like type 304 stainless or type 310S or type 316L.  In Europe they often call stainless Inox.

  3. Stainless steel is an alloy of a number of elements. Various grades have different combinations. Most stainless steel is composed of Iron (Fe) Nickel (Ni) and Chromium (Cr). Some more exotic mixes include Vandadium and (V).

So, there is no Symbol for Stainless Steel, per se.
