As far as I'm concerned, of course, the "best" climate involves:

- mild winters (never below 15°C) with a little rain but mostly dry

- sunny summers but no humidity or sultriness (never above 32°)

- no inverted seasons like in the southern emisphere of the world

- absence of extreme weather (hurricanes, monsoons..)

- possibly a place nearby the coast (couldn't live without the beach:)

  1. Never below 15 C? That's not winter! Well, in that case, I would suggest a reasonably high altitude location in the tropics.

I thought of the California coast but they get a lot of winter rain and it does drop below 15 C a lot of the time.

The only place in the U.S with really mild winters, like Florida or the Gulf Coast have hot summers.

Your best bet is to find an elevation of about 4000 to 6000 ft in the tropics and live there. Mexico City comes to mind. There are similar places in the northern Andes.

Kenya is also similar but it can be very wet, as is Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I'm afraid you're asking for the impossible.

    Other reasonable suggestions: Sydney, Australia

The mountainous regions in the Middle East (Yemen)

    Casablanca, Morocco

    Jerusalem, Israel

I think Sydney is the best pick of the lot, except for the fact it has inverted seasons.
