What's the closest attractive beach in Mexico to the US? I've been to Mazatlan but is there anything better?

I'd like to take my Mom to Mexico, to a nice beach but she won't fly. Puerto Vallarta was nice but to far of a drive for her. Any other ideas of hidden gems?! I'm looking to stay in the northern part of the country.

Better than Mazatlan? Of course!

Cabo is great.

And there are lots of nice, unspoiled beaches along the coastline (many of them are unadvertised).

Loreto is a good shot, its on the Mar de Cortez side of Baja and I belive its about 6 hours from San Diego, Cabo would be a much longer drive, but certainly a lot better

I would say Cabo San Lucas or La Paz - just gorgeous!
