What's the correct response to "how's it goin"?

Question

If someone says "How are you?", you reply, "Fine, how are you?" If someone says, "What's up?", you reply, "Nothing much, you?"

But how do you reply to "How's it going?"

I always say "good, how are you?", not even sure if that's ok to say or not haha

OMG this thing happened to me yesterday I was in Starbucks and this guy is like 'whats up'? and i'm like ermmm..... I don't know what to say either! I just don't say anything. I think it's a stupid thing to ask someone, whats up? Instead you should say how are you? how are things going?
