I heard cotton swabs make the problem worse!

They certainly haven't helped with my earwax clot!!

  1. Use a nice sharp steak knife.  That always works.

    *wink*

  2. i heard that you should take a wash cloth and put it under hot water and then kinda wipe it out with it

  3. go to the docter and have them clean it

  4. If you have a tough clot, you can flush the ear canal with warm water. The way to do this is with a 20 cc sterile syringe. Fill with warm (not hot or cold) water, tilt your head gently toward the floor, push in the plunger and the water will flow into your ear. It will also fall onto your shoulder and the floor, so a recommendation would be doing this in the tub to avoid clean-up. You may want to do this twice. Then lie down on your side flat/not proppred, ear to the mattress, with a towel underneath. The water will drip out and you should start to hear the popping noises and/or the clot start to drift down. Don't get up for at least 20 minutes. Clean any residue.

The pharmacy also sells a solution that you can use (similar technique) to dissolve it. But warm water usually works just as well.

  5. Try Q-Tips & see if that helps. If that doesn't work u may have to go to the Dr to have them washed out. Happened to me once. Good luck & hope u feel better.

  6. q tips - - - - simultaneously

  7. Do not use cotton tips (Q Tips???)

Go to the Dr who can syringe them.

You can also use a medical used hydrogen peroxide - not the hair stuff.  Go to the health section in your grocery store where the cod liver oil and stuff skin stuff is.  There's a mild mild solution (like 1/2 a %)  One or two drops will do it - just ensure you wash your ears out ok otherwise it can burn your skin and try it say on your forearm - of too strong then don't it in your ear!

  8. Q-tips with a little alcohol. The alcohol cuts the wax, but if you have a built up, then have your physcian irrigate them is your best alternative.

  9. I have my own way of doing it,lol, which is probly not"right" but I think the best way is to let a doctor do it( If I was to suggest my way, and someone damaged their hearing, I'd feel bad)
