What's the cost, apart from fuel, of operating your car per mile?

For wear and tear, that sort of thing. I've calculated gas at 4. a gallon, 18mpg, it's about .22 cents per mile, i believe.

I drive a '93 Buick Century wagon with 120,000 miles on it. I'm wondering roughly the cost per mile for operating it, apart from fuel. Thanks so much for any help.

  1. current IRS allowance is .54 per mile.  that would allow for a standard US car averaging a standard 22 mpg and costing 30K new.  my new cost was half that and my average fuel is 75% higer, so i'd say .35 per mile on a new car.  but it drops daily since the initial cost is further dispersed.

  2. Add up you depreciation, tires, maintenance, insurance, registration etc, in other words all cost related to the car per year, divide by the number of miles you drive per year. Cost of fuel is far from being the operating cost, on newer cars depreciation is the biggest cost, on older vehicles, maintenance and fuel will be higher.

  3. company pay is 38 cents mile its a tax thing
