  1. Its between 11-13 hours the price I found was 143 euro return but you can do the search yourself and you might find a much cheaper price too. Here is the link

  2. You can take a night-train (reservation required though), which is nice, as you wake up fresh and ready for the morning.

    See:

    http://www.citynightline.ch/-S:PtVOZ9:ek...

For more information on that (times and whatnot). The cost can range from 80 CHF to 300 CHF for the highest treatment of double deluxe. I advise the Night-Train as it is much more comfortable and easier to sleep on than the day train or a bus.

However if you want day travel, see below:

Due to the fact that you have not specified a station which you wish to leave from, I have chosen to take as start point Berlin Hbf for the following journeys:

There is an ICE that you can take that leaves every 2 hours at the 34th minute (i.e. 10:34; 12:34 etc.). That journey should last around

However, you have to change in Basle SBB and take an InterRegio towards Chiasso, and that leaves every hour, every day at the 4th minute of the hour (i.e. 18:04) from platform 6.

However, the timetables are due to change on December 11th and therefore, if your journey is after this date, please go to http://www.rail.ch which is a very good railway journey planner for most of Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland, some of Denmark, some of England, and some of Sweden.

    Hope this has helped,

    Enjoy!
