  2. It is true

    1 US dollar =1.99500 BBD

So when you round it off, it's about $2.00.

  3. True. The Central Bank of Barbados retains huge reserves (in the billions of dollars) to keep Barbados' currency at a constant rate of exchange to the US$.i

The exchange rate hasn't changed since ~1975. All you need to do is multiply by 2 to get the value of something in Barbados $. OR- divide by 2 to get the value again in US$.

    E.g.

    *US$ to BD$* = multiply by 2

    US$0.50 = BDS$1.00

    US$1.00 = BDS$2.00

    US$1 million = BDS$2 million

    US$10 = BDS$20 etc....

    *BD$ to US$* = divide by 2.

    BDS$500 = US$250

    BDS$300 = US$150

BDS$80 million = US$40 million etc. etc. etc.  You get the idea....

As general practice, you can get like 2 Barbados dollars for every 1 US dollar in the street.  And in the banks each US dollar will get you only about $1.80 in Barbados currency, (because the banks take out a little bit extra for the "cost" of doing the conversion.) So as a note you'd usually do a little bit better off trading with someone in the street if you need to..  Since it is soo easy to covert US-Barbados money in your head many places around the island take US dollars tooo.....

E.g. Whatever flashes on the cash register divide by 2 and that's what you pay in US$'s... (Rounded to the nearest $ because you can't trade coins.) Before you do any of this be sure you're not flashng excess amounts of money and be sure you ask first if places take US dollars if you don't want to convert at all times and places.  I believe you must pay your airport departure fee in Barbados dollars so plan for that too. If you're still left with some Barbados dollars, no worries...  If you go back for another vacation your currency will still be worth the same value since Barbados' currency is pegged to the US dollar.

  4. The official exchange rate is 1 USD to 1.98 BDS.  But alot of places will take 2 BDS for 1 USD
