What's the deal with Brett Favre?

Okay, I know this has probably been asked a hundred times before, but really why would he retire only to come back a couple months later? I know others have done it in the past, but really, what's the motivation to do something like that? Media attention?

  1. Rumor is he was forced to make a quick decision at the end of last season by the Packers management.  My guess is he was soar and tired at that point in the season and now that he feels better, regrets his decision.

I do have to say though it is a lot of fun to watch the packer fans reactions.  Almost like a civil war is about to break out in cheese land.

  2. Favre is the one who left.  The Packers didn't retire on Brett.  He retired on them forcing them to make other plans.  They spent the whole off season building a team around a different qb. I don't know of any other job that you can quir and then demand the job back months later when they have already hired your replacement.  Brett was a great qb but he is being childish.

  3. It's all about the $$  ;)

  4. The reason he retired in the first place was that he felt that the Packers pressured him to make a decision. He still wanted to play, so he came back. I can understand the Packers position because they've been through this before, but let him go already and let's get this **** over with!

  5. Have you ever been to Kiln, MS?  The only thing to do down there is watch the grass grow.  I guess he got tired of that and wants his old job back.

  6. he did it for the publicity. as simple as that. he will lie and say otherwise but hes LYING. oh and by the way.......a deal with tampa should be finalized soon!!! SO LONG BRETT...NO MORE SUPER BOWLS FOR YOU

  7. I don't think we will know the real reason until he writes a book in 5 years.

If it was only for money, he would have taken the 20 mil to not play..

If it was only for love of the game, he would have gladly offered to cut his salary in half in order to play somewhere.

If it was just to p**s the Packers off for some reason...well, he has done that.  But if he ends up actually playing for another team...wow, you would have to be pretty pissed to go through all that.

If it was just for attention - well, this is the one I can not find an argument against.   Not to say it is true...  I just can't think of one thing that would absolutely refute this theory.

  8. I think he changed his mind.

I do the same thing sometimes when I'm faced with a difficult decision.

  9. His momma and daddy were related before they got married. And he believes all the media hype about him being great and stuff. In his head he hears John Madden calling his every move (even when he wipes his azz!)

  10. Afraid I have to agree with a few of the others here. The money and publicity.   Think he was forced to make a hasty decision?  then there must have been a reason.

Stay in retirement, enjoy life and move forward...

  11. LOVE OF THE GAME! you ever play football with your friends, where there is no coach to boss you around and the game isnt taken serious at all and YOU LOVED IT?! well thats how brett feels when he plays football, and he has enough media attention, he just loves thegame

  12. Who cares Anymore. Lets play Football. Read other question. He got Traded. Yaa Hoo.

  13. they like being in the limelight.. making good money .one minute your on television with . millons watching..the next your on a farm in mississippi..maybe there ought to be a two year reinstation period..that might stop some of this i quit no i dont that seems to happen every year
