I heard that Hong Kong wasn't a part of China and I heard that it was just a Chinese city. But Hong Kong submitted one athlete to the 2006 Winter Olympics under Hong Kong, not China! So are they an independent nation, or just another chinese city?

  1. Hong Kong became the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China on 1 July 1997 - like Macau Hong Kong continues to send its sports person under the Hong Kong flag but the region is ruled by China.

  2. we r absolutely under China. they rule us....after 1997. but our legislature is quite independent as when the britons return us to them. they signed an agreement to keep our freedom. so, we r HK, China. although we stil sent out atheletics to the Olympics now in Beijing under the nm of HKSAR. which = Hong Kong Special Adminitrative Region.
