Question:

What's the deal with John Daly?

Okay, so I'm reading stories about how John Daly is slowly becoming a non issue for the PGA. What a shame! This guy was one of the best. One story I read said that Big John is not the biggest hitter anymore. Even his swing coach is probably going to leave him. John's past is starting to catch up with him. I just can't see how he isn't a factor in the PGA anymore. Anyone agree?

  1. Jon Daly has been the man for a long time but his alchohol is getting in the way. I mean he has got to really start working on his drives again so he is the longest. This way fans will start watching him again.  I have competeted in Long Drive and I can tell you anything over 315 for the pros is big. Jon is hitting about 307 right now this year. He is not swinging as hard as he used to. He used to take such a big swing. He should hire Jason Zuback and figure out what he does. They are about the same age. That would be my opinion.

  2. He was two low on the money list last year to make exemption for the 2008 season, he can only play on sponser exemption.  He is still sponsered by Taylormade and Winn grips.  Butch Harmon (Tiger's coach) is giving him lessons and is supposed to changed everything but the 'grip and rip' backswing.  I doubt him to do anything else until he starts on the Champions Tour.  To be 42 and have been pro for over 20 years, its time for someone else to take over the driving leader.  He's still sponsored by Hooter's so he has some place to go on Sundays when He aint playing.

  3. he was on top of his game obviously when he won the 2 majors since then he went through rehab a few times and is still drinking  and not to mention the fact that his wife cut him up and left him and took the kids.  That is all that people know about thanks to the media.  What do you think is happening with him behind closed doors?  Whatever it is he sure wasn't thinking about golf, and now he is but hes on his way out.  If he would have went to Butch Harmon a few years ago he'd be ok but hes too far gone.

  4. John recently stated that he is dealing with his problems and trying to get serious about golf again. He has hooked up with Butch Harmon, #1 coach in the game, voted by his peers. He's also working on his drinking and gambling. If you want some more information on John, you should check out his new book "My Life in and out of the Rough". Link is below to Amazon.

  5. John's other issue is that he is injured from an event last year.  Seems he was swinging away and some old lady (who lived on the course and was not very familiar with golf at all) took a picture right at the beginning of his downswing.  Well, the big boy got distracted, tried to stop his swing and messed up a whole lot of muscles, tendons, ligaments, etcl., in his chest.

The lady was truly unaware of what she did and has apologized several times since.  Yes the extra curricular activities are getting to him, and he working on that as well.  I see him having one last good weekend in his career.  He might not win, but I see him getting close one last time.

He will also be a great hit on the senior tour once he hits 50.

  6. I think Jon has tried very hard and done very well for himself.

Jon daly is getting older that's all anyone who believes the past catches up to you needs to take a class on physics "the past is the past" I agree that he isn't a huge threat and that's due to the fact that he doesn't take care of himself he smokes number one killer and he has a bad attitude at times. I hope he quits smoking works hard with butch Harmon and wins again. If every thing works out for Jon Daly he will dominate the champions tour.
