What's the deal with Tampa and Prospal?

Now that he has signed with the LIghtning, again, maybe someone can tell me why they keep shipping out if they ever feel inclinded to sign him.

Heck, even Philly gave him two terms.

I've always liked his skill, so what gives? What is a management thinking when they keep bringing a guy back that they once deemed expendable?

  1. Same thing Baron Davis did (sorry...basketball analogy) he didnt like the coach and wanted to get outta there... now with a new coach (melrose) he wants to go back to play for tampa... he loves tampa...not tortarella...

  2. Torts is not there anymore. They clashed heads so that's why he was gone.Even Mark Recchi was in Philly a few times and the Pens as well so it does happen.

  3. It's pretty much like this.

    He likes Tampa,

When he left in '03 he didn't want to be here.

He saw they won the cup and came back.

Torts hated him. when he went

prospal came back. so pretty much Philly got the short end of the stick in this deal.

  4. Just something to think about as well. We won the Cup without him. Yet when he is here, we do horrible.

  5. Plus the management knows how well he works with St. Louis and Vinnie on that line.  He's the perfect complement for that line so why not bring him back now that Torts is gone.  The players like him, he wanted to return, the coach is gone, so it's a great move for everyone.

  6. Two major things.

#1- What Joe said.  He had a horrible relationship with John Tortorella.  The Lightning's new management liked his preformance last year, but the old ownership had to get rid of him due to his poor relationship with Torts.

#2 - Prospal is lazy.  He only preforms when he is in a contract year...and his performance gets better as his contract get closer to expiring.

I think they should have only signed him for 1 year.  Dumb move by the Lightning.  On the up side, he does have a great chemistry with Vinny  Lecavalier and Marty St. Louis.
