What's the deal with boxing????????

The racism seems to be rife? If you

didn't know any better, you'd swear white

fighters were taking it easy on each

other, and taking it too Black fighters?!!

Calzaghe gives Jeff Lacy a beating, but

in Kessler Vs Calzaghe, neither one got

remotely hurt.

Wladimir Klitschko beats the c**p out

of Byrd, Brock, Austin and Brewster, but

seems to go out of his way not to hurt or

even punch Sultan Ibragimov in their stink

fest fight last Saturday!

You think that's all? Theres more!

Ruslan Chagaev barely touched fellow

white figher Nikolay Valuev in their boxing match,

but against black fighter Michael Sprott, he knocks

him out!

Same thing with Nikolay Valuev! He

barely touches Serguei Lyakhovich or Chagaev,

but TKO's black fighters Jameel McCline and

Monte Barrett!!

Does anyone else notice this racial farce

besides me? Are white fighters taking it

easy on each other, by going out

of their way to hurt black fighters?

  1. A fighter doesn't get into the ring thinking, "I'm going to take it easy on this guy because he looks like me."  They are their to win, period.  I don't think race even comes into the picture.  I didn't think this was a serious question when I first read it.  If it is, the answer to your final questions are No and No.

  2. the hype of a fight has always been played out this way by promoters in the past. This doesn't happen so much anymore; furthermore, I don't believe boxers themselves are fighting harder or less hard b/c of the other persons race or enthnicity. if this were true that would be way to easy to take advantage of. what you see is all emotionally based on what the viewer themselves see. so really its more of a reflection on you

  3. Out of curiosity- have you ever actually stepped in a ring and gotten hit?  Fighters do what they have to do to win, and after the first time a stinging jab lands, that's all you're ever going to think about.  Sometimes you're better off doing what Klitschko did last night- fighting tactically.  And then sometimes you're better off throwing some combos and taking advantage of someone with a weak chin, little heart, or poor defense.

For that matter, the thing that really puts the lie to your assertion is watching Irish fighters go at each other, or Mexican fighters go after it.  Believe me, there's no love lost in those bouts just because they're the same skin tone.  To some degree it has to do with different styles of boxing in different countries.  Russian fighters tend to be VERY technical.  Mexican fighters tend to have very fast hands and good long combinations.  British fighters have some of the best body work.  It's a style thing that you pick up from watching other people in your area, the people you spar and learn with.  When you match up two fighters with similar styles they often know how to defend well against each other, but can really exploit someone of a different style.
