  1. we fast from the sunrise to the sunset

it's not obligatory for unable people to fast(  patient , very old people, people who have a very long travel ....)

  2. Thanks a lot for asking us such an important question.

During Ramadan, Muslims have to fast from Dawn until first light in the sky. So we eat b4 Dawn and @ the time of breaking the fast families get together and have good meals. :)

Fasting doesnt only mean to resist oneself from having, food and drink @ all but also to resist from desires such as s*x between husband and wife.

The purpose of fasting is that we those who always get the food and drinks, will know how the poor and the needy feel. So it is increase our desire to help such people.

Ramadan is a time where we can earn a lot of good deeds bcoz a good deed done in Ramadan will be rewarded 10x more then done in other times. so muslims try to do as many good deeds  they can doing this month. such as Performing As-Salat, reading Quran, giving Charity, ect

the one is sick doesnt have to fast on that day, he/she can make up that day after Ramadan. but for the one who has no chance of recovery or is very old and not able to fast, need to feed some  people. Medicines can be taken @ the time when i fast has not get begun (when he/she eats meal b4 fasting) or @ the time of breaking the fast.

as for the one who has to take insuline injections, his/her fast doesnt break with taking these injections

  3. weell if you are sick no need to fast it will be"Qada"which means he can eat and drink but after ramadan is over he have to fast one day.

  4. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.

Muslims have been ordered to fast during this month by Allah. Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is mandatory on all able-bodied Muslims.

We don't necessarily have to fast the entire day. The fast begins at dawn with the first light in the sky. Then we leave eating, drinking, and sexual intercourse until sundown.

If a person is sick, they should not fast. They are excused until they feel better, though they must make it up.

Actually, pregnant and nursing women do not have to fast either. A Muslim who is sick for many years, or is physically unable to ever fast can make up for it by feeding the poor.

  5. Dawn to Dusk

sick and travelling ladies on period etc do not fast.

details available on many islamic sites.

  6. the sick , elderly and girls on period are exempt from fasting.

you fast from sunrise to sunset. so basically when the sun is out you are not allowed to eat or drink anything , that includes water.

and it lasts apx. 1 month

you are allowed to only eat when it is dark.

also while you are fasting, its not just food you are not allowed to partake in, but also no s*x or partying or anything like that,. its suppose to be a time for reflection and prayer and all that.
