Question:

What's the deal with the Congress having Democratic Party majority leadership?

They do not have a majority to override a presidential veto, therefore if they don't have a 2/3 majority what good is it? What's the big deal about it? They can't get anything done without some of the Republicans agreeing with them.(That's NOT going to happen.)

  1. It means they control the agenda.

That means they can force votes on topics like the tax that the repulbicans blocked that would have imposed penalties on oil company profits...that means they can use that as political fodder for the Congressional battles in November...that means they get more seats in Congress...then with a Democrat in the Whitehouse the veto will not matter.

Finally a chance at real recovery

  2. They run the place.  They can call votes on what they want, they head the committees that look into all the laws that are considered.  They head committees that investigate people and issues around the country.  Notice how nothing happened on the fired attorneys until the Democrats got in and then all the sudden they were holding hearings?  It's a very big deal to have the majority in Congress.  You effectively control the federal government.
