What's the difference, if any: "something itself" and "something in itself"???

  1. Personally, I think either is acceptable. Problem can be that I use English English as a reference, American English may be somewhat different


  2. I would say  something itself  would mean something by itself..

    the other meaning within itself...it's true self.

    example: This work itself is easy.

                   This bird is not itself today.

    How did I do ESL speaker?
