  1. ERP is the acronym for Enterprise Resource Planning.

    This is generally a system that analyzes customer orders or releases and plans every facet of full filling that order.

    This could be raw material planning, machine or equipment loads, manpower, packaging, transportation, inventory levels, and finally invoicing and payment.

    Hence the entire enterprise is considered as opposed to an MRP system which is strictly Material Resource Planning and usually deals with inventories and material only.
