  1. uh you can hardly understand am

  2. First of all, to the person above me. You're answer is not correct because there are plenty of news stations that can be found on FM radio. There is also definitely many music stations that can be found on AM radio. 100.3 is a good news station on FM. 1500 is a good music station on AM radio.

    The whole difference between the two radios are the way they are broadcasted. You can prove this because you might notice how if you're in range to a station on AM. It might not come in as clear as a radio station on FM in your area. That's the main difference between the two radios.

    Good luck with your tuning! :)

  3. in AM radio the amplitude of the carrier is modulated (AM stands for Amplitude Modulation) and in FM(Frequency Modulation) the frequency of the carrier is modulated. Since FM is a higher frequency and is modulated in a way that is more immune to noise and static from electrical appliances , lightning and so forth . FM can also produce a higher bandwidth which allows for high-fidelity broadcasting and decent stereo separation . main differences also include the range of receiving the station . FM is line of sight so its reliable within 50 miles or so from the tower . AM uses ground wave propagation during the day so it is limited in the daytime range . At night , AM signals reflect off the ionosphere and can be heard several hundred miles away .

  4. AM= news

    FM= music
