  1. SW = 56*

    GW = 52*

    AW = 50*

    PW = 48*

  2. AW= Approach wedge

    SW= Sand wedge

  3. it's the club between the SW and PW.  usually it's 52 degrees in loft, but it depends on the manufacturer- usually between 51-53.  PW is usually between 47-49, SW is 55-57, and LW 58-60+.

  4. I think the AW may be an auxiliary wedge, usually around 52 degrees loft. Anyway, it's going to be in between your pitching wedge, PW, and your sand wedge, SW. The AW is used a lot around greens for shots that require some loft on the shot, but ultimately need to hit the green and roll. So it'd be used if you have to cover a lot of green but have to also hit over a patch of rough right in front of you. The SW usually has about 56 degrees of loft, and is used for most shots out of the sand, obviously, and shots that just need more loft and maybe some spin, to stop quicker. Also, with a full swing, you'll hit the AW farther.

  5. I believe "AW" is an "Approach Wedge"; while an "SW" is obviously the "Sand Wedge".

    The "AW" is similar to or at least, close to a gap wedge.
