  1. No one should use BitComet.

The only people who like it are BitComet users.

I point out BitComets faults time and time again, yet its users still defend it.

For downloading for public trackers, fine, use it.

I don't see why any private community would want such a client though, and most private trackers (reputable ones anyhow) have long ago banned its' use.

BitComet favors other BitComet users. If 2 clients request a connection, and 1 is BitComet, and the other isn't, then the BitComet user would get priority.

    Fair? - no

BitComet hammers the tracker, over and over and over.

Good for the tracker? - no

BitComet 0.60 had the ability to enable dht on private torrents. This defeats the purpose of private trackers.

Rather than changing to a fairer client, or wanting these issues resolved, many BitComet users used a patch to fake the client version, to stop trackers/clients knowing they were using BitComet. Each of these reasons on their own, is enough to ban BitComet from private trackers. All of these together, is madness not to.

The only good thing I've ever seen BitComet do is use the same encryption as Azureus/µTorrent.

  2. From what I have seen, Bitcomet, BitTorrent and Utorrent are all pretty much the same.  Each program has different features.  Some people like one feature over another feature, so the choice is purely yours.  I use Free Download Manager, that has the BitTorrent upload feature included.

Utorrent is pretty good as well, so is Bitcomet.  As far as I know, they are all free programs (although I may be incorrect on that).  Best idea is to download all three, and try them all out to find which one you like yourself.

    Good luck!

  3. they all download torrents the only diff is that they all have diff features. I prefer utorrent its light and easy to use

  4. I have tested quite a few bittorrent clients and, when properly set up, they all downloaded at about the same speed.

BitTorrent and uTorrent look the same as BitTorrent bought uTorrent and then released a BitTorrent which was uTorrent with the BitTorrent name.

BitTorrent does add something called DNA to its download. This appears to do nothing for the average user, but use up memory all the time.

This article discusses them and other clients and has setup guides for the suggested clients (including BitComet and uTorrent):

  5. speed is all the same. if you have a fast internet service you will have fast speed. The only difference is the features as stated above.
