  1. catholicism is not christanity. catholicism is about a woman named mary. Christianity is about God who is Jesus.

  2. Catholcis are alot more strict than Protestants..

  3. Catholics pay a little more attention to their altar boys.

  4. Catholic is a denomination of Christianity just as is Methodist, Episcopal, Baptist, etc.

  5. Papal infallibility.

    Transubstantiation.

    The Mass.

    Mariolatry.

    Invocation of saints and angels.

    Image worship.

    Auricular confession.

    Purgatory etc.

  6. While a number of fundies will tell you the Catholics are going to h**l, it really boils down to whether or not they have accepted the free gift of Christ's death on the cross as payment for their sins.

Oddly, if you asked a number of non-Catholic Christians why * they * feel they are going to heaven, they will say something about being "good enough", totally missing the concept of grace.

I am surprised to read imacatholic's response, because I thought Catholic doctrine not only required extra steps in order to attain said salvation but that at any time no one could be sure they still retained it. I will defer to those with more knowledge in the area.

Please do not take that to mean I think Catholics are going elsewhere.  If they have accepted Christ's death as payment, I wouldn't doubt their destination for a minute.

However, in conversations with Catholics, I was left with the feeling that they doubted the security of their salvation, even if they had accepted Christ's death as payment. I wondered if it was a misunderstanding of their own faith or a prevailing sense among the followers.

Perhaps I should post a question as to why that might be the case.

  7. Catholicism is a religion invented by Constantine the Roman Emperor 1800 or 1900 years ago. It mixed ancient pagan Babylonian witchcraft with some of the doctrines of the followers of Christ. Today's christians are mostly "reformed" religionists who did not really reform after all. Christians are followers of a religious system. True worshippers worship God in Spirit and in Truth.

  11. I'm not going to get into the big debate over whether or not Catholics are Christian. However, if you want to read about the differences between Catholicism and the bible, here's a site:

Again, I am using this site only so you can see many of the differences. What you believe is up to you.

  12. okay catholics believe more in saints then in god like christians they think that the aints will guide them and help them with life unlike christians who believe the total opposite they think that jesus is the only way and the only higher power why bother praising other people who hasnt done any miracles and not the one who has done many miracles??

  13. True Christians base their lifestyle on the Bible, which is said by God to be the light that guides us. Catholics base their lifestyle on traditions and doctrines that are easier to swallow.

  18. Catholics say a man must be catholic to be Christain.

Christians say a man must be born again to be Christian.

The bible says a man must be born again to be Christian.

  19. Catholic is a subgroup of christian.  If you are catholic, you are a christian.  However, you can be a christian and not necessarily be a catholic.  Other types of christians are Methodists, Pentacostels, Mormons, JWs, fundamentalists.  Basically, anyone who believes that jesus died for their sins is a christian, but there are a LOT of flavors of christians.

  20. In terms of dogmatic-faith-based-belief?  Nothing.

  21. "What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)

Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.

Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):

By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.

There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.

A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/inde...

    With love in Christ.

  22. The Holy Catholic Church is the Apostolic Church instituted by Jesus Christ.

The Catholic Church is the only one that has Saints, and apparitions of Jesus, Mary, and Saints.

Satan has forged, and still now even much more, many apparitions. True Catholics do not fall in his traps, and the Church rejects them.

Our Lady of Medjugorje, the woman of the Apocalypse raging war against the Dragon, is the last apparition on earth before the end of the world.

But the difference between Catholics, and some heretics Christians, as you see here, is their mouth and lack of piety.

Catholics do not worship Mary. They honor Mary, the Mother of the Church, as the Lord honors her.
