  1. DVD+R is commonly used for video or media files

DVD-R is mostly used for data or a mix of things

    Hope this helps.

  2. They are two different format of disc; much like Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are (or were, seeing as Blu-Ray will probably be the standard) the competing formats for hi-definition disks. Most burners of the current age can burn to and read both, but your best bet is to check all the hardware you plan to use the discs in and see which format is more compatible.

  3. Basically just two different formats that were developed as two different standards.

  4. I have 2 dvd players one uses dvd+r and the other dvd-r so I have to be careful with the discs.lol

  5. Both pretty much do the same thing.

But DvD-R is readable on more Home DvD players than Dvd+R for movies.

Dan Da Man above has it backwards!

  7. Joe W is correct.
