  1. "dye" deposits color.

"toner" tones at the level you are at. Will tone out yellow/orange/reddish tones so that you can be a cool blond. toners will either have a shade of blue, green, or violet in them, depending on which warm tone you want to get out.

Both are equally healthy/unhealthy to your hair but in salon, the only thing that really damages your hair is lightener itself.

Toner usually wont do much to natural hair. Ive actually never tried myself though - would probably still tone out some warmth if the hair was light enough.

  2. dye is really called color in the salon world,

it can be based on three different color (dyes)

meaning tempary, demi, semi, and permanent

toner is a semi permanent color that allows to tone to get too much yellow or orange or whatever the color that seems not to be right with a tint of another color.

when coloring on to bleach hair is tricky because depending on if your roots came in you can get something called hot roots meaning the hair roots are lighter then your ends

  3. Dye changes the colour of you hair. for example from red to brown. Toner is what you use after you dye your hair, it helps blend (tone) the colour. With bleached hair it helps it tone from a bright yellow or orange to a more natural blended colour.

The question about the effects on natural hair is different. if you have dyed your hair before your roots and the ends of your hair can turn out different.

for example I am now trying to blend my hair because I have dyed it several times and my hair is darker than my roots.

what is it that you want to do with your hair?
