What's the difference between Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 top companies?

I found that some companies who made it on Fortune 100 list are not in the same slot as in the Fortune 500 list. Why is that?

  1. Strange, there is no such thing as a "fortune 100" list. Sometimes you hear "fortune 100" when references are made to the first 100 of the Fortune 500, obvioulsy they should be the identical (for the same year).

    Do you mean the list of most admired companies, which is also made by Fortune-magazine but is obviously something completely different?
