Which word do American native speakers use more frequently in general?

At what kind of situations should people use Kiss or Smooch?

  1. Americans, such as I, use kiss much more often than I would use smooch. I honestly may never even use smooch at all instead of using kiss. A kiss would sound more elegant and more sensual. In my opinion, it would sound pretty funny if those who aren't native English speakers use smooch. Yet this is just my opinion.

  2. You can't go wrong saying "kiss."    "Smooch" is slang and has a humorous connotation.  It also suggests kissing rather noisily.  So for your last question, if you use the word correctly, it's SUPPOSED to sound funny, but it will show native speakers that you're really getting good.

  3. A Kiss is usually a bit more heartfelt and romantic, whereas a smooch is more playful. You might use smooch like, "Come on baby, give daddy a big smooch on the lips!"

I'm not really sure if either word is very elegant or sensual, but I honestly can't remember the last time I said smooch, so I recommend you try to avoid it! hehe
