  1. lcd use a lamp witch will die way sooner then a  plasma

  2. LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Diode.  The set is made of the liquid crystal filaments than are illuminated by a bulb.  LCD's are very bright and are very good for well lit rooms.  LCDs tend to suffer from motion blur and slightly washed out colors.

Plasma tv's have gases that are ignited by individual electrodes.  Plasmas have better color than LCD's and also refresh 4-8 times faster, so if you watch a lot of movies or sports then you will enjoy the experience of a plasma tv more.  Plasmas have glass panels that can cause an annoying glare that can be distracting in a well-lit room.

Can you even buy a CRT these days?
