What's the difference between Liability and Compulsory Liability?

i need to know what insurance requirements are for motorcyclists in the state of illinois and it said "Compulsory Liability (Minimum Limits)(20/40/15)". is it just like regular liability like what all drivers need? or is it different?

    Compulsory means, required to carry by law.  Liability means, coverage for damage/injury to someone else.  There are several types of auto liability, including bodily injury liability, property damage liability, uninsured motorist liability, underinsured motorist liability, and there could be others in some states.

    That compulsory is what you need to hang the plates.  You can buy additional liability coverages, or higher limits.

  3. Compulsory liability means that the State mandates that you carry the minimum liability limits specified in order to operate a mororcycle in the State of Illinois. The liability coverage is the same.
