  1. The Moto GP are one off Prototype machines purpose built to race.

The AMA Superbikes are derived from production machines sold to the public. (similar to World superbikes and British superbikes)

to compare - your standard 1000cc bike from the shop to either of these machines is irrelevant.

your superbike has modified parts and slick tyres, but the profile is the same. this is where we get the RR (race Replica).

The Moto GP bike is unavailable to the public. is not even made as a road going vehicle. Just designed to race around a track with the cutting edge of technology. this transfers down to superbikes, then super sport bikes then to your road bike. . I doubt either you or I could make one go faster than the other. but that's because we cant ride either.

  2. " Superbikes " These bikes are road based machines, most are 1000cc 4 cyl machines or 1200cc 2 cyl machines. This type of bike can be found in WSB / AMA / BSB etc.

" MotoGP " These bikes can only be found in MotoGP. These bikes have [ almost ] thrown the rule book away and are one off prototype machines with no say as how they look and go. They are very powerful 800cc machines.
