  1. Open Office also has dbase, and analog to access, which I do not believe is included in the basic office package.  The main difference is that Open Office is made by starry-eyed idealists, and MS Office is made by lunatic satan worshippers.

  2. Yes it has all three of those and about $300 difference :-) http://www.mymediatutorials.com/

  3. The primary difference is price - Open Office is free. It does not have Excel, Powerpoint, Word and all those programs, but it does have programs that do the same thing (for example, their version of Word is OpenOffice.org Writer). You can open MS Office documents in Open Office, and vice versa. You can also save documents in the MS formats when using Open Office.

  4. Open Office includes programs that perform all the functions that Microsoft Office does.  It can open edit and save files in all of the Microsoft formats and in more universal formats also.

    The major difference?

$750 retail price for MS Office Suite

$0 retail price for Open Office 2.4.1
