What's the difference between Soy, Teriaki, and Worcestershire sauce?

Sorry. I know I spelled Teriaki (Teriyaki?) wrong. But I really would like to know. They're all similar...

  1. They are all excellent sauces! Great for adding flavor.

    Soy Sauce is made out of soybeans, of course. This one usually is preferred or used for flavoring fried rice, stir-fried vegetables and even for coloring for its dark brown color. It tastes salty. You can buy the reduced-salt kind because the flavor is as good as the salty one. There are different types of soy sauce and depending on the thickness, they originate from different Asian countries like Japan and China.

    Teriyaki sauce is a similar sauce, but this one is kind of a sweet sauce. This Japanese sauce is great for grilling, roasting, and broiling meats. If you want to use it for stir-frying I recommend that you add it at the very end of cooking because it caramelizes fast and your food will stick very fast and burn if you are not careful. The taste, though, is great and it's a thicker sauce.

    Worcestershire sauce is a sauce used mainly for seasoning meats or vegetables, barbecues and thickening sauces. Even though it's known as "English sauce" its roots are from India and it's particular ingredient is "tamarind" which is a sweet and sour pulp that is found in tropical countries.

    texture: medium brown, not clear ( need to shake it)

    use for : marinating meat, seasoning food that needs a bit of kick (great on top of any food that tends to be a bit oily )
