  1. They are the same; a hurricane in the west, a cyclone in the east.

  2. There is no difference. The names come from where they are located:

        * "hurricane" (the North Atlantic Ocean, the Northeast Pacific Ocean east of the dateline, or the South Pacific Ocean east of 160E)

        * "typhoon" (the Northwest Pacific Ocean west of the dateline)

        * "severe tropical cyclone" (the Southwest Pacific Ocean west of 160E or Southeast Indian Ocean east of 90E)

        * "severe cyclonic storm" (the North Indian Ocean)

        * "tropical cyclone" (the Southwest Indian Ocean)

  3. A cyclone is a turbulence of wind in inward direction caused on land and it is most popular on eastern side. Hurricanes are the same thing but mostly called by its name in America.

  4. No difference, in that they are both the same thing, but just termed differently depending on where they are located.  A typhoon is also the same thing.
