  1. First understand that the MBA is a general degree preparing you for any level of management, not a specialization in a single field which prepares you for staff positions. MBA programs may have a concentration in fields such as finance, accounting, marketing and others, but that only means and additional 2-3 elective courses in one field in the second year of the program.

Accounting prepares for entry into the CPA profession, but unless you have an undergraduate degree in accounting, an MBA program will not be enough to qualify. Nevertheless, accounting is so important in business that many students take as many accounting courses as possible. this includes financial accounting, cost accounting, tax accounting, and others.

Finance is the most popular field in MBA programs and includes courses in Money and banking, mergers and acquisitions, financial statement analysis, investing, security analysis, etc. Finance students typically try to take additional accounting courses beyond those required. for the MBA.
