I'm buying a new player for a Tech-savy Uncle. I perhaps I should say Tech-crazy, since he blows large amounts of cash and gets minimal usage for his buck (aka he wastes his money) I need to know if it is worth my extra 150-200$ to go with the S500 rather than the S300 Blu Ray from SONY.

  1. The 500 has the Dolby True HD and dts-HD processors built in so if your Receiver doesn't but has the HDMI inputs you will still be able to listen to those soundtracks.

  2. Sure, there's a difference, but go for the S300.  It's basic enough but if you don't really want to waste cash on a few extra features, the S300 is fine.
