a diary is private where you put all your dreams goals..etc.

a journal is where you put poems, thoughts etc.

They are the same thing.

I would call mine a diary and my American boyfriend would call it a journal. That is either a man thing or an American thing. But I have seen American films and read American stories where they are referenced as a journal

My understanding is that a diary is for deep, personal thoughts.....and a journal is just a written account for what happened in a particular day of event.

a diary is more something u don't admit too, that has more personal things. a journal could be like where did u go today and something as you get older u say instead of diary just becuz it sounds btr
