    I would call mine a diary and my American boyfriend would call it a journal. That is either a man thing or an American thing. But I have seen American films and read American stories where they are referenced as a journal

  7. My understanding is that a diary is for deep, personal thoughts.....and a journal is just a written account for what happened in a particular day of event.
