What's the difference between a garden tub vs. a roman tub?

I think I have a garden tub since I have to take 1 step into it before settling down. It is bigger than a regular tub. I asked the difference because I want to replace the tub spout but all the hardware stores only advertise roman tub spouts for hundreds of dollars. My spout looks like it only costs 20-30 bucks.
