I've just been given a Samsung L100 camera. I'm a novice, so please be kind. I have a Sandisk 50 phots 64 mg disk. My camera is 8.2 megapixels, so I can only get about 11 photots off the disk. When I go to Ebay, I'm seeing lots of disks that are 4.0 GB, & 8 GB. about how many phots will I be able to get from some of these at the 8.2 pixel setting?

  1. Mega is equal to Million

    Giga is equal to Billion

byte are space - like in the word "ONE" that is three space or "One only" is equal 8 space/bytes (including the space in between the words).

With that, your 64 mg memory card will only hold "approximately" about 11 photos on 8.2 mp or 16 on 5 mp or 20 on 3 mp (you have to adjust it the mp). You have to get yourself an SD memory card 1gb or 2 gb, or SDHC 4 gb - to get from 200 - 800 shots on 8.2 mp.  The more gb, the more it would cost.

This is how they come for 8.2 mp:

each increment double the amount of space/pictures (approximately).

    32 mb = 5

    64 mb = 11

    128 mb = 22

    258 mb = 44

    512 mb = 88

    1 gb = 176

    2 gb = 352

    4 gb = 704

    6 gb = 1056

    8 gb = 1408

  2. well, just make sure you read the user manual first before buying those memories coz some cameras can hold up to only 2gb or up but some only can hold up to 1gb. Just make sure your camera can hold up to 4gb or 8gb.  For 4gb memory, you can take about  1200 pictures on it, and for 8gb, you can take about 1500 to 5000 pictures. It depends on the quality and resolution of the picture. The more quality, the high resolution, the more space needeed.

  3. bit is the standard unit of calculation

    now

    1 byte  = 8 bits

    1 kilobyte = 1024 bytes

    1 megabyte  = 1024 Kilobyte

    1 gigabyte = 1024 Megabyte

  4. 8.2 megapixels is not photo size..it's image quality

i think if you set your camera setting to maximum..

size of picture is around 3-4 Megabyte..

    so if you memory is 8 GB = 8000 MB = 2000 pics(approximate)

  5. Short answer --

There are 1000 bytes in a megabyte (mb),

There are 1000 megabytes in a gigabyte (gb),

There are 1000 gigabytes in a terabyte (tb).

So, by simple math,  if you get 11 photos on your 64mb disc, you would get aprox. 781 on a 1gb disc, aprox. 1562 on a 2gb disc, and aprox. 3124 on a 4gb disc. Exactly how many you will get will vary but should be close.

    Hope this helps

  6. it also depend on the qulaity of the pict you store, but 4 GB will take u far.
